Midwifery Manager - Community

Overview

The Community Midwifery Manager oversees 24-hour community midwifery services, ensuring high standards of care. The role involves leading and supporting staff, managing resources, and meeting the needs of women and families.

As a visible role model, you will advocate for women, partners, and midwives while working within the senior leadership team. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement, and innovation.

Balancing managerial and clinical duties, you will typically work three days in management and two in clinical practice, providing both strategic oversight and hands‑on support.

• Oversee the day‑to‑day running of community midwifery services on a 24‑hour basis
• Ensure high standards of clinical care and professional practice are maintained
• Lead, support, and supervise midwifery staff
• Coordinate staffing levels and allocate resources effectively
• Act as a role model and advocate for women, birthing partners, and midwives
• Collaborate with the senior midwifery leadership team
• Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives
• Balance managerial responsibilities with regular clinical practice
• Provide strategic oversight alongside hands‑on clinical support
