An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurses tojoin Lindsey Lodge Hospice Clinical team on the bank. We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and compassionate registered nurses to joinour team and to continue to develop our high quality care delivery to patients. Whilst this is a bank opportunity there will be an expectation that you work a minimum of 6 shifts in 12months, to maintain competencies as shift availability allows.
The post holder will work across 24 hour shift pattern and will need to be avaliable to pick up shifts at short notice. Lindsey Lodge Health Care, will provide youwith exciting opportunities to develop your skills and competencies within palliative and end of life care as we continue to develop our services with our partners.
Main duties of the jobLindsey Lodge Hospice inpatient care is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The post holder will be required to work a range of shifts across the 24 hours, including rotation between days and nights. Although majority of bank shifts will be on the Inpatient Unit, post holders may occasionally be required to work in other Hospice settings in order to ensure adequate staffing levels and to gain experience of the wider hospice delivery of care (e.g. Outpatients).
The Key objectives of this post will be to deliver high quality Specialist Palliative and End of Life nursing care as part of the Inpatient Unit Multidisciplinary team. This will involve the coordinate assessment, planning and evaluation of individualised patient centred care. Ensuring a holistic approach that is sensitive and responsive to the patients ever changing needs.

Work in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code

Provide clinical Leadership and act as arole model in the delivery of high quality patient care.

Be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in symptom management of patients with palliative needs.

To provide evidence based care thatmeets the holistic needs of individual patients and their carers/families,including physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical and pre & postbereavement needs.

Promote the contribution of nursing withthe multi-disciplinary team.

Deputise in absence of the senior nurse

Ensure that patient risk assessments are undertaken daily

Assess the needs of each patient and formulate, implement and evaluate total planned care in accordance with the individual needs of the patient and the procedures of the organisation.

To be aware of the changing needs of patients and their carers throughout the illness trajectory and the need for frequent reassessment.

Actively participate in personalising the service to the patients and their families, according to the visions andvalues of the organisation.

Have the skills necessary to discuss difficult situations with patients and families.

Communicate effectively with members of Lindsey Lodge and wider Palliative Care team adhering to the principles of confidentiality at all times.

Assist in initiating new ideas in consultation with other staff.

Participate on own appraisal and performance reviews.

Report to Senior Nursing and Medical staff the condition of the patients and give and receive instructions, ensuring that they are carried out.

Deliver and receive reports and ensure that clear channels of communication are maintained.

Be aware of and adhere to all Lindsey Lodge policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate clinical records including the use of those on electronic patient records

Take responsibility for the general running of the unit, the care of patients and families and the supervision ofstaff

Undertake medicine rounds in line with Lindsey Lodge hospice Management of medicines policy

Work in other departments as and when necessary.

Contribute to the evaluation of clinical practice through audit.
