Drivers Mate - Scunthorpe

Flexible People Ltd are currently recruiting Drivers Mates to work alongside our lorry drivers for a well‑known client of ours, based in Scunthorpe.

This Drivers Mate role involves delivering large goods to residential properties. The type of goods you will be delivering includes flat pack furniture, gym equipment, white goods and other bulky household items.

Due to the weight of the products you will be delivering, you must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items safely.

The client operates seven days a week, and as a Drivers Mate you will receive a weekly rota of 5-6 shifts per week. Weekend work is involved and will be expected. You must be available to work weekends as well as weekdays.

Start times are 06:00, and shifts typically last around 9-11 hours.

As a Drivers Mate, you will also be responsible for calling customers ahead of delivery to provide an estimated arrival time, so excellent customer service and telephone skills are essential.

You will also be trained to become a 'Banksman', ensuring that you are outside the lorry at all times when it is reversing to guide the driver and ensure the manoeuvre is completed safely. Full training will be provided.

Upon successful application, all new Drivers Mates are required to attend a mandatory induction day before starting work.

You must be able to reliably commute to the Scunthorpe area.

Please note that drug tests may be carried out at any time at the client's discretion. A drug test will also be completed during the induction process.
