About the Department Services
The Residential Services Division consists of a Juvenile Detention Center and two post-adjudicated facilities. The facilities house youth who are awaiting court and youth who are placed into the department’s custody by the juvenile courts. The facilities provide direct care and supervision for all youth placed with the department along with providing mental health and behavioral treatment programs.
About the PositionThe Staff Services II is responsible for performing clerical and administrative duties in an office setting and maintains an efficient system for office operations.

Education and Experience- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution with either
: - Two (2) years of paid experience in an office clerical role.
OR
- Two (2) years of paid experience in casework, counseling, community or group work in a social service, community, corrections or juvenile agency that deals with offenders or disadvantaged persons.
- Years of experience from both areas may be combined to equal the two years.
- Thirty (30) hours of college credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Advanced knowledge of computer programs required to perform job, including Microsoft Office software, designated case management program and/or assessment tool, and general office machines and telephone system.
- Understanding of payroll, budget and auditing.
- Communicates effectively in written and oral form, can work independently, multi-task, and possess office management skills.
- Working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Comfortable handling multiple tasks and projects.
- Maintains a professional behavior at all times when dealing with the public and staff.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Upon receiving a conditional job offer, all applicants must undergo a criminal background check and drug screening.
- All applicants must provide evidence of a tuberculosis (TB) skin test. If the attest result is positive, additional documentation will be required.
- All employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing, as well as testing based on reasonable suspicion that the employee may be under the influence of a substance prohibited by the county’s drug and alcohol policy during the course and scope of employment.
- In the event of a public emergency declared by the county, staff may be assigned to other duties, facilities, or departments under the supervision of another county department.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- Employees in this position must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's license and maintain liability insurance coverage at least equal to the minimum amounts required by law.
- Certified copies of educational transcripts and/or college credits will be required during the hiring process.
- This position involves working with challenging youth where the use of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies may be necessary to ensure the safety of both youth and staff.
