ROLE

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

• Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Paediatric and adult assessment, including triage
• 12‑lead ECG Interpretation
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

• Recent/related courses, in‑services in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing
• Ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues
• Ability to work independently, with excellent communication skills
• Ability to plan, organize and problem‑solve
• Decisive and sound judgement in handling difficult situations
• May be assigned to accompany patients on transfer
• Visible and approachable for patients, families and staff with ongoing communication regarding patient monitoring and evaluation of activities.
• Excellent client counselling, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and effectively interact as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting.
• Effective leader, organizer and planner capable of making timely decisions and exercising tact and good judgement.
• Forty Five (45) minute return time will be required when scheduled for standby

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

• Recent clinical experience (minimum two years) in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing
• Advance Paediatric Life Support (APLS) or Paediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
• Clinical Nurse Educators that offer on‑site training
• Clinical Scholars available for on‑unit assistance and questions
• Preceptor/Peer Mentorship Opportunities
• Collaborative Team Environment
• Nurse Support Line (Experienced Nurses or Registered Respiratory Therapists available for advice on non‑emergent issues)
• Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
• Extended Health/Semi Private and Dental Benefits (for Part‑time and Full‑time only)
