Transport Planner
Location:
Seaham
Salary: up to £33,000 per annum
Contract:
Permanent, Full-Time
Hours:
Monday to Friday
- Plan and coordinate daily transport schedules to ensure the timely delivery and collection of goods.
- Liaise with production and internal departments to ensure goods are available in line with loading and dispatch requirements.
- Work closely with freight forwarders to arrange haulage, shipping, and associated logistics activities.
- Prepare and maintain accurate transport and shipping documentation within required timescales.
- Monitor loading, dispatch, and delivery processes to maximise operational efficiency and service levels.
- Allocate vehicles, drivers, and routes effectively to optimise transport performance.
- Investigate and resolve transport-related issues, delays, and customer queries promptly.
- Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to wider business objectives.
- Promote outstanding customer service and supplier engagement at all times.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience within transport planning, logistics, or a similar operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of HGV regulations, road transport legislation, and compliance requirements.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS); knowledge of Webfleet would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
