Our bus system provides transportation throughout our community and to nearby shopping centers, restaurants, and medical facilities on scheduled routes and timetables.

If you:

• Have a helpful service orientation and can communicate effectively with various personalities.
• Can maintain pace in a busy environment.
• Have exceptional people skills.
• Can stay calm when faced with challenging individuals and respond with respect and understanding.
• Possess a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Can follow GRF safe driving rules.
• Have skills in driving safely with awareness of passenger safety.

As a Bus Driver, you will:

• Drive throughout Leisure World and surrounding communities on a set schedule.
• Record daily passenger counts.
• Verify passenger residency.
• Assist passengers with packages, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Provide bus route information to passengers.
• Operate the bus safely and in compliance with GRF and State traffic regulations.
• Report emergencies or accidents immediately to the Security Department dispatcher.
• Check the bus for fuel, water, and any apparent defects.

Other important information:

• Use a 2-way radio and hand counter.
• Frequently reach, climb, balance, and stoop.
• Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Pass a bus driver physical examination before employment and annually thereafter.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
