Work under general supervision to assist students in the STEM classroom

Qualifications

• Education/Certification:
  
  High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate (or ability to obtain certification)

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to deliver STEM activities
• Ability to operate personal computer and educational software
• Ability to work with students and teachers effectively
• Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience

• Some experience working with children

Salary Information

• Pay Scale: H2 ($14.38 - $19.46/hr)
• Wage Status:

Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Support

• Assist students in exploring STEM topics in classroom and lab
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Work cooperatively with teachers
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports

Student Management

• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty
• Manage student behavior in STEM

Other

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
• Maintain confidentiality
• Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

  Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
