- Education: Minimum Associate’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution offering training in this specialty, plus a supervised clinical internship to prepare for professional licensing. Must complete examination with scores required to obtain licensure. Must have a current license to practice physical therapy assisting in the State of Arkansas.

Experience:
One to three months on-the-job training to learn department procedures. - Job Knowledge: Must be able to perform job duties of a registered physical therapist assistant and those general duties specific to the Rehabilitative Services Department. Must be able to function in a professional manner with minimal direct supervision.

Description
Responsible for maintaining standards of patient care in accordance with hospital regulations, policies and procedures as established for physical therapy. Confers with the physical therapist and medical staff regarding policies and procedures pertaining to the care of their patients in this area. Supervises therapy aides. Must exhibit good rapport with other departments and nursing staff to enhance the quality of patient care.
Active in continuous quality improvement studies. Assists with securing and maintaining equipment needed for procedures, charging, and scheduling.
Physical Effort: Required to lift and carry equipment, supplies and materials. Assists patients in positioning and transfers as needed for specific treatment programs. Talking and hearing to convey instructions and information to patients and staff members. Visual acuity to perceive reactions to treatment and to read instructions.
