Housekeeper, Full Time – Unity Health

Serve as a vital member of the housekeeping team, maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors. Position requires independent work, adherence to infection control standards, and the ability to assist in managing waste and supplies.

In the interest of protecting the health and safety of all patients, associates, and guests, Unity Health has classified this position as "safety sensitive." Any employee engaged in the use of medical marijuana will be excluded from employment in a safety–sensitive position.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or GED. Must be able to read and write sufficiently.
• Training &
  
  Experience:
  
  Ability to understand written and oral instructions; maintain good physical and emotional well‑being. The job requires sitting, walking, bending, pushing carts, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Job Knowledge:
  Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize workload, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment. Previous experience desirable but not required.

Performs indirect patient care, which includes but is not limited to cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining a hygienically clean, hazard‑free environment for patients, associates, and self. Must follow infection control and housekeeping department policies. Familiar with the physical locations of all departments (CCU, OB, ER, etc.). Handles waste according to proper policy and procedures. Cleans and disinfects using approved solutions.

Requests cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. Maintains equipment – keeps it clean, neat, and in working order.

Performs indirect patient care by cleaning/disinfecting and maintaining floors in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive fashion free from hazards. Understands and follows infection control, housekeeping department policies, and safety guidelines. Removes trash, biohazardous waste, and contaminated linen per housekeeping policies. Requests supplies and equipment as needed. Maintains equipment – keeping it clean, neat, and in working condition per manufacturer practices.
