PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Vice President for University Advancement, the Director of Development engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards alumni, parents, friends, corporate and foundations who have the capacity to make either major direct or planned gifts to CSU Monterey Bay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Builds and manages a portfolio of 75‑125 prospective donors for major gift commitments for identified CSU Monterey Bay fundraising objectives: to include identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Conducts 300 meaningful contacts annually. Develops written engagement and solicitation strategies; moves prospective donors through the traditional cultivation, solicitation and stewardship cycle recording actions in a moves management system.
  • Supports the portfolios of assigned academic college or program working closely with the Dean, faculty, director and staff.
  • Supports the Annual Gift program with his/her assigned prospects.
  • Assists the Assistant Vice President for University Development in the preparation and implementation of a development strategic plan.
  • Assists the entire University Development Office in its functions and coordination of activities, including coordinating with other offices of the University.
  • Participates in the activities of committees and organizations to ensure that appropriate development policies, procedures and safeguards exist and function in the best interest of the University.
  • Supervises assigned support staff providing evaluations and feedback for all areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other job‑related duties and special projects as assigned.
