JOB SUMMARY:

Performs counseling and administrative functions as delegated by the SPO and Clinical Supervisor and oversees the general safety and well-being of Genesis House residents through counseling relationships in the treatment program. Provides LPHA (Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts) duties, such as determining and documenting medical necessity for Continuations of Stay, Withdrawal Management 3.2, and Thirty (30) Day Extensions. Reviews and approves treatment plans.

Provides mental health services to all residents as needed. Conducts reviews of residential charts to ensure that they meet the Department of Health Care, Drug-Medi-Cal and CARF standards. Determines that the chart contents meet those standards and identifies the need for additional training. Provides documentation training and support to staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Performs counseling and administrative functions as delegated by the SPO, oversees the general safety and well-being of clients through counseling relationships in the treatment program.

Prepares reports and other necessary documentation of client activities as required.

Provides in-service training to staff. Included is public relations and public speaking as representative of unit and agency.

Assists the SPO in developing program direction for unit and agency.

Participates as a member of the Unit staff team and shares in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Unit objectives.

Administers continuing assessment via the ASAM for continuation of stay and extensions.

Reviews treatment plans submitted by counselors, approves plans via AVATAR (County EMR). Makes changes to treatment plans as appropriate.

Provides medical necessity documentation for Withdrawal Management 3.2, continuations of stay for 3.1 and 3.5 level of care and 30 day extensions

Updates client files as needed after individual therapy sessions.

Makes and coordinates referrals to social service agencies for ancillary support services.

Provides collateral counseling sessions to clients and family members/significant others.

Meets with social service providers to coordinate service plans.

Assists clients in obtaining drug free housing upon completion of program.

Conducts oneself as a professional and follows all applicable policies and procedures.

Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings and clinical staffing.

Transports clients to appointments when needed.

Provides program description and give tours to prospective clients and/or social service providers and the public ilitates face-to-face meetings between clients.

Available for telephone conferences with evening and weekend staff and for crises.

Conducts reviews of residential charts for quality assurance purposes to ensure that the charts meet the Department of Health Care Services, Drug Medi-Cal and CARF standards.

Identifies the need for additional training

Provides documentation training and support to staff as needed.

Assists in DHCS, Drug Medi-Cal and Monterey County Behavioral Health site visits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The Clinician I or II, Substance Abuse Disorders position requires resourcefulness, problem solving and clinical skills and must be able to work effectively in varied situations. Must possess knowledge about addiction and sound addiction treatment practices.

Must be able to relate to persons of varied backgrounds, possess knowledge of counseling techniques and treatment skills, and work supportively with other treatment staff.

Clinician I must be Registered Intern (for Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) under the rules of the Board of Behavioral Science of California, or enrolled in an accredited Doctoral program in Psychology or hold a doctoral degree in Psychology acceptable to the California Board of Psychology.

Clinician II must be licensed as a Marriage and Family Counselor (MFT) or as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with the Board of Behavioral Science of California.

Must have a California driver’s license

Must have proof of auto insurance

Must be CPR and First Aid Certified Salary: $78,323 - $95,202/year D.O.E. Additional 5% if bilingual and biliterate in English and Spdzds
