About the Position

As a Seaside Police Officer, you will protect the life and property of residents and visitors in our coastal community. Officers respond to emergencies, enforce Oregon State Laws and City Ordinances, and engage directly with the public to build trust and solve community issues. Duties include conducting criminal investigations, making arrests, enforcing traffic laws, mediating disputes, participating in court proceedings, and contributing to public outreach and crime prevention programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old at the time of hire, possess a high school diploma or GED (college coursework or experience preferred), and meet Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training certification within one year of hire. Residency within 30 minutes of the station is required within six months of employment. Candidates must pass a background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical and fitness exams, and drug screening.

Background and Drug Screen Requirement

The background and drug screen requirement applies to employees responsible for the care and safety of the public, as well as those involved in high-risk safety tasks that pose a significant danger to the public. For example, Police Officers, 911 Operators, Firefighters, Lifeguards, and employees operating or working around equipment that can pose a danger to the public.

Salary: $31.77 - $40.55 per hour
