Controllerfor Nonprofit Organizations

The role is a dedicated, personable, hands‑on controller who guides nonprofit clients and provides transformative accounting services. Successful candidates must be comfortable working with multiple clients both virtually and on‑site and interact regularly with clients, their staff, Boards of Directors, and Finance Committees.
Responsibilities- Transform nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission.
- Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decision‑making and presentations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices.
- Handle transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month‑end close, and maintaining work papers.
- Conduct analysis and data visualization, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Manage grant allocation and funder reporting.
- Prepare for and manage annual audit.
- Provide client and staff training opportunities.
- Passionate about working in or supporting non‑profit organizations.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- 5‑7+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
- Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis.
- Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with multiple GL packages, especially Quick Books, and electronic bill pay systems.
- Non‑profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Bilingual‑English/Spanish is a plus.
