About the District:The Field Operations Bureau is primarily responsible for traffic law enforcement, collision investigation, and motorist assists on 7,056.18 centerline miles (18,642 lane miles) of state highways and interstates. District 1 is situated in the Puget Sound Basin, providing service in Pierce and Thurston counties. District headquarters and detachments are based out of the Combined Transportation Center in Tacoma, WA.
This position provides direct office support to all personnel within the office detachment of approximately 35 employees, to include 1 Lieutenant, 4 Sergeants, 25 Troopers as well as CVD personnel and Breath Test personnel. The incumbent will be responsible for performing secretarial assignments which require knowledge of a variety of rules, policies, procedures and regulations. Problems are resolved using independent judgement where work is periodically reviewed to verify compliance with the established evaluations, and other documents.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement procedures, forms, work methods, and job priorities.
- Resolve problems and respond to inquiries regarding procedures and services.
- Answer telephones, receive, screen, and refer visitors as needed.
- Perform word processing tasks.
- Enter infraction and criminal citations into WSP Citation System Data Base.
- Transcribe telephonic search warrants for DUI stops performed by WSP Troopers.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating detachment budget needs.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years clerical/office experience.
- Must be able to lift boxes up to 40 pounds.

This is not a telework position. Candidates must be able and willing to work in the office and commute to Tumwater.
