We’re seeking a detail-oriented Grants & Data Specialist to support our grants team.
The role centers on prospect research, proposal drafting, data-driven reporting, and maintaining accurate grant records, with some time devoted to data analysis for individual giving.
The Grants & Data Specialist provides strategic support to Goodwill’s efforts to secure corporate, foundation, and government funding from $10,000 to over $1M, coordinating and tracking relationships with institutional entities and persuasively communicating Goodwill’s goals, mission, and programs to funders.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and supporting documents to corporate, foundation, and government funders.
- Collaborate with program staff, Mission Advancement, and Finance teams to ensure accuracy in proposals, budgets, and reports.
- Maintain the grant calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
- Support data analysis for grant impact reporting (e.g., charts, tables, outcomes).
- Research, identify, and prioritize funding opportunities in coordination with Mission and Leadership Teams.
- Conduct funder outreach and manage relationships.
- Ensure compliance with funder guidelines for submission and reporting.
- Coordinate internal timelines to allow for adequate review and input.
- Maintain records in Donor Perfect and shared tracking/reporting systems.
- Pull relevant reports and information from Case Worthy for grant applications and reporting, in collaboration with Program Analyst team.
- Occasionally support the development team with donor trend and retention analysis.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of constituent information.
- Practice workplace safety and report potential hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or related field or equivalent experience and demonstrated success in fundraising.
- Minimum 2 years of grant writing experience required.
- Knowledge of AFP best practices, including the Donor Bill of Rights.
- Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and research skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to anticipate project needs.
- Interest in changing the lives of low-income populations through job training and education programs.
- Experience interpreting program data required; exposure to fundraising data a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Familiarity with donor management or CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) systems (Donor Perfect preferred).
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and emerging technologies (including AI applications in writing and research) is strongly preferred.
