Responsibilities- Provide outstanding customer service and travel advice, guiding city tours, leading native experiences, and arranging meals.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of travelers, handling difficult situations calmly and professionally.
- Operate a fifteen‑passenger van (with trailer), managing transportation between cities, parks, and accommodations.
- Host, lead and execute tours, following itineraries and completing administrative duties.
- Represent Intrepid’s core values of Ambitious, Impactful, Real and Together, sharing your passion for travel with guests.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication.
- Strong collaboration skills with a remote team and independent problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience driving a fifteen‑passenger vehicle with trailer.
- Customer‑service experience and rapport building with diverse travelers.
- Travel experience across North America and a passion for sharing that region with guests.
- Basic computer skills – email, working software, and Excel.
- Able to safely operate lodge‑based and camp trip vehicles across North America.
- Strong critical‑thinking skills and the ability to “figure it out.”
- This is a seasonal position available for the entirety of the peak season (May–October).
- Certificates required before starting:
First Aid, CPR, Leave No Trace Online Awareness, Food Handler’s, DOT Driver’s Medical Exam, valid passport, and a US driver’s license (commercial license for CA or NJ only). - Advanced First Aid certification is required for leading trips in Alaska (WFA or WFR recommended).
- Consent to pre‑employment and random drug/alcohol testing and a criminal background check (state dependent).
- Prepared mentally and physically for extended hours, vigorous walking, and active engagement with travelers.
- Ready to travel and spend time away from home while leading tours throughout the United States.
- Diverse departures year‑round, including hiking, biking, festival, family, premium, and foodie trips.
- Travel to and from trip start locations, and return home at the end.
- Meals and accommodation usually included, often in hotels, campgrounds, or homestays.
