Family-owned International Food Importer and Distributor located in Seattle, WA is looking for a full-time, capable Purchasing Assistant to work with Category Managers in all buying aspects of various food categories. Products are sold across the USA and food categories include non-perishable canned fruits, vegetables, seafood, beverages and specialty foods in conventional and organic forms. We sell retail grocery stores in both branded & private label as well as servicing food service, club and discount channels.

• Daily communications with various team members and trade partners.
• Assist in maintaining and building relationships with existing and new suppliers.
• Generate Excel reports used for inventory management and shipment tracking.
• Assembly and distribution of Market Update Reports.
• Document review and management.
• Studying and understanding a variety of world markets.

• Independent thinker and self‑starter with ability to thrive in a pressure and time‑sensitive environment.
• Quick learner with ability to adapt to a new working environment.
• Detail‑oriented and well organized.
• Basic computer knowledge to include experience working with Excel. Will need to learn internal computer system in short order.
• Work well with numbers.
• Good oral & written communication skills.

Salary is dependent on experience. Annual bonus eligible based on personal performance and company profitability. Position provides excellent growth potential for the right individual.
