Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent who will coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline area. The role involves developing and enhancing customer relationships by providing excellent service and ensuring project schedules, safety, quality, risk, and compliance objectives are met.
Responsibilities- Plan and implement materials, equipment, and inspections to support project schedules.
- Review construction documents for completeness, constructability, and contract compliance; coordinate plans with design engineers.
- Develop and manage project schedule and site logistics plan, utilize tools and equipment, and collaborate with project partner superintendents.
- Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, and supervise project partners; interview, hire, transfer, or dismiss team members.
- Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, handle team member training, and conduct career development discussions.
- Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Lead by example, provide coaching and feedback to manage performance.
- Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- OR 10 years of trade experience.
- Current driver’s license.
- Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple complex projects.
- Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
- Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback; ability to travel up to 100%.

- Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience (Superintendent I).
- Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience (Superintendent II).
Superintendent I: $108,600 – $162,900 base pay range.
Superintendent II: $126,300 – $189,500 base pay range.
Actual range is higher for the following office locations:
Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%;
Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%;
Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Penetrating base pay is positioned within the range based on skills, experience, and internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
