Reporter – Puget Sound Business Journal

Hybrid role, 4 days per week, Monday through Thursday.

This reporter will cover markets in the Washington State economy, producing news stories for the website, weekly print edition, and daily email newsletters, and supplying multimedia components.

• Define the vision for the product voice, digital news, print, and email.
• Report and write short‑form and long‑form stories.
• Own the beat, dictating day‑to‑day coverage and locating source‑driven exclusives.
• Relentlessly develop sources and manage relationships with executives and community leaders.
• Scoop competitors, delivering why and how behind stories.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong news judgment and investigative/interview skills.
• Proficient in video, photos, broadcast, on‑camera, and other multimedia.
• Proficient with MS Office and web‑based communication platforms.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to build audience and leverage source relationships.
• Solid understanding of news writing, ethics, and story structure.
• Drive to develop sources and build audience.
