We're seeking an exceptional UX Visual Designer to help drive and scale our illustration and iconography strategy within our newly establish visual system, and architect compelling visual designs for complex Alexa and device experiences, while collaborating between interaction designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers throughout the design and development lifecycle. As a tastemaker and strategic thinker, you will help shape product vision, define cross-product illustration frameworks, and establish visually compelling UI design systems for Alexa experiences.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in illustration systems and visual storytelling, setting the bar for UX illustration excellence across complex product experiences. You think strategically and systematically, defining both the "why" and "how" of what we ship – influencing product strategy through deep understanding of business goals, technical constraints, and customer needs. You have strong knowledge of visual systems including layout, typography, and have passion for establishing best practices that push the boundaries of interface design.

You excel at translating abstract concepts into scalable illustration frameworks while driving technical implementation across engineering teams. You can present your ideas confidently in the reviews with senior leadership, inspire innovative design solutions, and possess a passion for elevating the visual experience of millions of Alexa customers around the world.

Key job responsibilities

• Defining, crafting, and implementing scalable UX illustration strategies and systems across multiple products of large complexity

• Establishing and maintaining illustration patterns and UX standards that elevate product experiences

• Building consensus across diverse stakeholder groups while driving vision into concise design deliverables

• Creating meaningful, emotional connections through strategic illustration solutions

• Partnering with senior leadership to drive innovation in a highly iterative shipping environment

Basic Qualifications

• Have an available online portfolio

• 3+ years of design experience

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Animation, or equivalent design-related field

• Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards

• Expert proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, Adobe CC and Keynote

Preferred Qualifications

• A comprehensive portfolio showcasing experience creating and implementing sophisticated illustration systems at scale

• Demonstrated success in defining and evolving visual design systems through illustrated concepts, documentation, and style guides

• Track record of driving innovative, user-centered illustration solutions across complex workflows

• Experience contributing to strategic design visions that influences product roadmaps

• Experience art directing motion designers, illustrators, and content creators

• Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders

• Experience defining technical requirements and partnering with engineering teams for complex implementation

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
