Position Overview
SMR Architects is a 34‑person architectural firm focused on affordable housing, renovation & historic preservation, sustainable design, mixed‑use & transit‑oriented development. The firm is seeking a Design Staff 1 / Architect 1 to join its practice in Pioneer Square, Seattle.

- Architectural degree and 4 years’ post‑graduate experience.
- Experience with preliminary design through post‑construction, construction drawing production, and understanding of building, accessibility and energy codes.
- Renovation and rehabilitation background, multi‑family housing and historic preservation projects.
- Proficiency in Revit is encouraged; benefits include Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite and Enscape.
- Strong communication skills, independent problem solving and ability to seek guidance.
- Technology guidance and supervisory approval from principals or project managers.

- Ten paid holidays; two weeks’ vacation.
- 8 hours of paid community service; ORCA transit pass.
- 401(k) retirement plan with 3% Safe Harbor match and discretionary profit sharing.
- Minimum 80% in‑office working days:
Mondays‑Thursdays;
Friday remote or in‑office. - Continuing education, seminars and mentorship provided; support for AXP and ARE exams; reimbursement of half yearly dues for AIA membership.
