Grayscale Design Studio is a Seattle-based design firm where creativity and craft meet purpose. We shape spaces that engage, inspire and challenge convention. Our work spans a wide range of project types—from CRE repositioning and restaurants to residences, retail and beyond. We fully integrate architecture, interior design, furniture, and procurement.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Design Architect to join our growing studio. The ideal candidate combines a distinctive creative vision with the technical skills necessary to guide design concepts through every stage of a project, from initial sketches to construction administration. Our studio is located in Fremont / Wallingford, Seattle.
RequiredSkills and Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture and licensure is preferred but not required.
- 10 years+ of professional experience in an architectural design role.
- Software proficiency. Expert knowledge of design software, including Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Highly proficient in interior architecture and enjoys working on projects with a strong interior focus.
- Technical detailing skills.
- 3D modelling/rendering skills in Revit, Rhino, Enscape.
- Extensive knowledge of building codes.
- Able to guide, mentor, and technically support team members at all skill levels.
- Positive attitude, creative spirit and open-minded mindset, with a knack for working effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- BIM management, including setting up and maintaining Revit models, templates, etc.
- Develop and present compelling design work using a variety of tools, including models, 3D renderings, and sketches.
- Ensure all design and documentation comply with relevant codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Producing permit & construction sets with technical detailing.
- Coordinate with city agencies for permitting.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other consultants to ensure technical accuracy and design integrity throughout the project.
- Perform construction administration.
