DescriptionThe University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, and Seattle Children’s Hospital, are accepting applications for a full-time faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinical Practice track. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. Anticipated start date is Spring/Summer 2025
In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
This full-time position includes:
Clinical Pediatric Sports Medicine & Non-operative Pediatric Orthopedics. This work includes the full range of ambulatory pediatric Sports Medicine and associated minor procedures. In addition, this individual will offer outpatient services in non-operative Pediatric Orthopedics. Clinical effort is located within the Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Center. This position may include a regional outreach component and could involve travel to outlying clinics at least monthly.
All facets of this work will include work with medical students, residents or fellows. In that role, the candidate’s responsibilities will include clinical supervision, teaching, evaluation, and feedback.
As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI).
Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
The base salary range for this position will be:
Assistant Professors $16,521 - $24,782 per month ($198,252 - $297,384 annually), Associate Professors $20,611 - $30,917 per month ($247,332 - $371,004 annually), Professors $24,071 - $36,073 ($288,852- $432,876 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.
Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

QualificationsThe successful candidate will have earned an MD or DO degree(or foreign equivalent) and should be board certified in pediatrics with additional training, experience, and certification in pediatric Sports Medicine and Pediatric Orthopedics and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
