Description

The University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery is actively recruiting a full-time academic sleep medicine/surgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT). Academic title/rank will be commensurate with experience/qualifications.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

This position is based at the Harborview Medical Center which houses our Sleep Surgery/Medicine program. The candidate will contribute to a multi-disciplinary practice environment which includes fellow, resident, and medical student teaching and clinical or basic science research.

This position works in the capacity of a Board Certified Otolaryngologist Surgeon within the Department. The primary focus of this position will be to treat patients referred to otolaryngology for sleep disorders. This position will provide specialized, evidence-based care in sleep surgery and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. It is the expectation that the faculty member participate in clinical and surgical activities and take a fair share of call on nights, weekends, and holidays.

The anticipated start date is July of 2025.

The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor WOT rank will be: $22,500 - $24,167 per month ($270,000 - $290,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.

Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position includes semi-annual additional compensation through the University of Washington Physicians Group. The UW department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery targets the AAMC 50th percentile for total salary.

Associate Professor WOT Rank:

The base salary range for this position at the Associate Professor WOT rank will be: $29,167 - $32,500 per month ($350,004 - $390,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University.

Minimum qualifications include an MD (or foreign equivalent), certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology, completion of a sleep surgery/medicine fellowship, and eligible for a Washington State medical license.
