Overview
Assistant Director of Educational Evaluation and Analytics — MEDEX Northwest, Department of Family Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. Leads program evaluation, learner assessment, data management and reporting across MEDEX Northwest to drive continuous program improvement, support student learning outcomes, and ensure ARC-PA accreditation compliance. Serves as a key member of the MEDEX leadership team and partners with faculty and staff to advance a culture of accountability and educational excellence.
Responsibilities- Program Evaluation Leadership — lead strategic evaluation across MEDEX Northwest, ensuring alignment with program goals, accreditation requirements, and best practices in health professions education.
- Chair the MEDEX Evaluation Committee, coordinate evaluation priorities, develop annual work plans, and produce committee reports.
- Design and implement multi-year evaluation plans with data collection across the student lifecycle and key program functions.
- Develop and manage evaluation tools and processes for admissions evaluation, didactic course and instructional evaluation, clinical phase preceptor/site/rotation evaluation, and graduate/employer surveys.
- Oversee data collection, management, analysis, and reporting; produce actionable evaluation reports and interactive dashboards for leadership, faculty, and staff.
- Lead program contributions to department-wide and school-wide evaluation and CQI efforts; translate findings into curriculum improvements, operational changes, and strategic initiatives.
- Support MEDEX preparation for ARC-PA accreditation activities, including authoring evaluation-related sections of self-studies, developing compliance reports, and site visit preparation.
- Learner Assessment — design, implement, and continuously improve learner assessment systems aligned with curricular competencies and national standards.
- Oversee management and quality assurance of exam item banks, ensuring alignment with program competencies and learning objectives.
- Develop assessment tools including performance-based assessments (e.g., OSCEs), rubrics for clinical and didactic performance, clinical preceptor evaluations, and student self-/peer evaluations.
- Provide expertise in assessment methodologies, including standard setting, psychometrics, and competency-based education best practices.
- Manage learner assessment data systems with secure, accessible data to support program reporting and CQI.
- Collaborate with instructional technology staff to optimize use of Canvas, Exam Soft, Exxat, and related platforms for assessment delivery and analysis.
- Facilitate faculty development in assessment design, implementation, and interpretation to promote educational quality and student success.
- Data Management & Reporting — design, manage, and continually improve evaluation and assessment data systems across MEDEX.
- Conduct advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis to inform decisions and drive innovation.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, Excel) for leadership and faculty with real-time data access.
- Ensure alignment with institutional data governance and reporting standards in collaboration with DFM and School of Medicine data leaders.
- Provide consultation and training on survey design, data collection, analysis, visualization, and interpretation.
- Support integration of evaluation and assessment data into MEDEX’s CQI processes.
- Collaboration & Leadership — contribute to program-wide strategic planning and decision-making related to program quality and evaluation; coordinate evaluation/assessment activities across MEDEX campuses (Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Anchorage, Kona) and ensure data integrity.
- Represent MEDEX in departmental and school-wide evaluation, assessment, and accreditation initiatives.
- Mentor faculty and staff in educational research, evaluation projects, and scholarly work; support dissemination of scholarly projects in evaluation and educational quality.
