Position Overview

Trillium Academy seeks a full‑time English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our staff and faculty for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year, with the possibility of long‑term hiring. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in literature and writing instruction, a commitment to inclusive teaching practices, and experience supporting students with a range of learning profiles, including twice‑exceptional learners.

This position involves teaching middle and high school ELA courses, with a focus on building student voice, analytical thinking, and writing fluency. The ELA teacher will also help students develop self‑management strategies that support academic success.

Compensation is prorated to $5,000–$7,500 per month for the remainder of the school year ($60,000–$90,000 for a full school year contract).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver differentiated ELA instruction rooted in Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Teach reading comprehension, grammar, and both creative and analytical writing with structured support.
  • Coach students in Executive Functioning skills such as organization, time management, and planning.
  • Foster a classroom culture that celebrates voice, identity, and the power of language.
  • Integrate current events and student interests to build relevance and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to adapt curriculum and meet the needs of twice‑exceptional learners.
  • Maintain open, strengths‑based communication with families.
  • Engage fully in co‑curricular programming, community events, and professional learning to support a vibrant, inclusive school culture.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Literature, Education, or a related humanities field.
  • Two or more years of classroom teaching experience at the high school or higher level.
  • Experience supporting neurodiverse twice‑exceptional (2E) students using strength‑based, inclusive practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both creative and analytical writing with scaffolded support.
  • Familiarity with Executive Functioning strategies and their integration into academic instruction.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
  • Growth‑oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous professional learning.
  • Comfort with integrating technology and assistive tools into instruction.
  • WA State Teaching Certification (or eligibility) preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.;
    Trillium does not offer visa sponsorship.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday‑Friday work hours with occasional evening and weekend commitments for school events and meetings.
  • Frequent movement between classrooms and activity spaces.
  • Supervision responsibilities during non‑classroom times.
  • Participation in safety drills and behavioral support interventions.
  • Emotional resilience to support students with diverse and complex needs.
  • Regular use of technology and learning management systems.
