We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Robotics Coach to join the Holy Names Academy Reign Robotics Team. This is an exciting opportunity to mentor young women in STEM, build a strong robotics program, and gain hands‑on experience in coaching, project management, and team leadership. The assistant will work closely with the Head Robotics Coach, learning the ins and outs of leading a competitive robotics team with the goal of eventually taking on the Head Coach role.
GeneralTasks & Responsibilities
- Robot Building Support:
Assist with the hands‑on building and programming of the team’s robot during the off‑season and build/competition seasons. - Business Team
Collaboration:
Work with the student business team to ensure that marketing efforts align with the needs of the robotics team and the mission of the school. - Mentorship & Development:
Collaborate closely with the Head Coach to understand the responsibilities involved in leading a robotics team, aiming to take over leadership in the near future. - Student Registration & Permission Slips:
Oversee and manage student registration, ensuring that all permission slips are completed for events. - Team Apparel:
Coordinate the ordering and distribution of team shirts and other apparel, ensuring a cohesive presentation at events. - Outreach Event Arrangements:
Help organize and manage outreach events aimed at promoting the team and encouraging interest in robotics within the school and broader community.
- Off‑Season (September – December):
- Frequency:
One or two days per week. - Hours:
Typically 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM (specific days discussed with the Head Coach).
- Frequency:
- Build/Competition Season (January – March, possibly mid‑April):
- Frequency:
Monday‑Friday. - Hours:
Typically 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. - Note:
Holidays are excluded; additional time may be required for events.
- Frequency:
- Event/Competition Weekends:
- The team participates in two competition weekends in March and additional outreach events in the fall (usually October). Availability for these weekends is required.
- Prior robotics experience is not required, but a background in STEM, engineering, or related fields is highly preferred.
- Interest in coaching and mentorship, with a passion for working with high‑school students and fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with students, parents, and external partners.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines such as event planning and coordination.
- Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to support both the robotics team and the business team in achieving shared goals.
- Commitment to diversity, with a passion for promoting diversity in STEM fields and creating a welcoming environment for all students.
$3000 – $5000 stipend
