Opportunity Description
Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Library Assistant, providing library circulation services primarily at the Health Education Center at Pacific Tower.
SalarySalary for this position is $21.61 per hour.
Position SummaryThis position provides circulation service at the library’s check out desks and position assists with a variety of library tasks. The assistant uses the integrated library system according to established procedures to assist library users and circulate library items. Also assists with reshelving items, reading and straightening shelves, counting circulated items, and participates in outreach activities. Must be able to work with a positive, flexible, and innovative attitude.
This part‑time position is assigned at the Health Education Center at Pacific Tower for 8 to 16 hours per week Monday through Thursday afternoons when classes are in session, fall, winter, and spring quarters. Summer quarter work may be assigned depending on need.
This is a 1‑year temporary position that is part‑time and works 100% onsite.

What You Will Be Working On- Provides welcoming, effective and timely library check‑out service.
- Answers basic informational and directional questions; refers users to appropriate employees as needed.
- Searches for materials.
- Performs circulation functions of checking materials and other resources in and out.
- May process materials including stamping and labeling.
- Shelves, shifts, and shelf‑reads items.
- Contributes to library‑wide activities and planning to promote inclusion and equity in library services.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- High school graduation.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate library policy and processes.
- Proficiency in using standard office productivity applications, including email, word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to read and enter data quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive and effective relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and service to a diverse community.
