** Job Overview
** The vision of the IRC Seattle Youth and Education Program is that youth from refugee and immigrant backgrounds have the skills and resources necessary to pursue a future of opportunity. The program advances this vision by providing educational and enrichment opportunities that support school-aged youth in recovering missed learning, adjusting to new school environments, developing English language proficiency, and building positive community connections.

The Youth Program Specialist will support virtual spring and summer programming by delivering 2–4 virtual classes per week and providing essential administrative and program support. Core responsibilities include enrolling students, sending program reminders, ensuring students have required materials, contributing to program reporting, and performing other duties as assigned. The specialist will work closely with the Senior VRISE Program Coordinator to ensure high-quality virtual learning experiences for newcomer elementary-aged youth.
** Major Responsibilities:*
* • Support IRC’s Youth Program Coordinator in the planning, preparation, and facilitation of the after school VRISE and VSRISE programs.  
• Support the planning and lead large and small group activities and lessons in English literacy, grammar, art, and social-emotional learning.  
• With support from the Youth Program Coordinator, develop assessment methods to collect robust data and evidence of program effectiveness. Lead implementation of assessments with virtual elementary programs.  
• Facilitate program outreach and enrollment by calling or meeting with families at school buildings or events to explain IRC’s Youth and Education Programs, answer questions, and assist families in completing program enrollment forms and providing eligibility documentation.  
• Maintain regular communication with teachers and parents about program activities and projects, such as email newsletters with a brief description and highlights of activities completed in program. Work with teachers and/or parents if students have specific learning needs.  
• Provide academic support and guidance for newcomer students at partnering schools during the school day by either leading small pull-out groups, or by providing push-in support during large group classroom instruction.  
• Create safe and healing learning spaces and build supportive relationships with newcomer students utilizing a trauma-informed approach to support students’ academic success and social-emotional development.  
• Lead ETO data entry and data analysis for elementary virtual reading programming
• Provide training and supervision to interns and volunteers, as appropriate  
• Participate in program meetings, staff development activities, and fully engage as a member of the IRC team.  
• Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency.  
• Other related duties as assigned.
