Mitchell Activity Center Fitness Instructor (part-time temporary)

Position Summary
:
The Mitchell Activity Center (MAC) is a hub for students, staff, and faculty at Seattle Central College to gather, socialize, re‑create, and exercise. The MAC also serves as a rental space for college affiliated groups and external rentals. This part‑time temporary position contributes to group fitness classes at the MAC, with a focus on Yoga instruction.
Duties include:
- Conducting and leading Yoga classes (45–60 minutes).
- Demonstrating fitness techniques and motivating students.
- Capturing daily attendance.
- Engaging with staff at the Mitchell Activity Center.
- Assisting students to achieve correct technique.
Typical schedule:
2–6 hours per week; morning and afternoon shifts available. Instructors are paid for set‑up and clean‑up time.

What You Bring as a Candidate
:
- Previous teaching experience.
- Education or experience in health and fitness.
- Certification preferable.
- Ability to provide customer service to patrons and visitors.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective relationships with students and other employees.
- Demonstrated commitment to promote equitable access and service to a diverse community.

Physical Setting
You will operate hand, power, and motorized equipment. You will be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, etc., and work in varied weather conditions.
