Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) is seeking an SPP Assistant Teacher to join our Seattle Preschool Program classroom at our MLK Early Learning Center in Seattle, WA
. This role partners with the Lead Teacher to support instruction, child development, assessment, family engagement, classroom routines, and SPP requirements in a multilingual and dual language learning environment.

- Pay:$24-$32 per hour, depending on verified education, qualifications, and relevant experience

- Schedule: Full-time, onsite position supporting children and families in ReWA's early learning program

Who You Are :You're a caring and dependable early childhood educator who enjoys helping young children learn through play, exploration, routines, and positive relationships. You work well as part of a classroom team and believe children learn best when their languages, cultures, identities, and strengths are welcomed and celebrated.
Qualifications:Required
- Meet the current DEEL/MERIT qualification requirements for an SPP Assistant Teacher
- Generally, this includes an AA in Early Childhood Education or another associate degree with the required ECE coursework under the current SPP standard
- Ability to meet applicable Washington State child care licensing, background check, health and safety, and SPP requirements
- Experience supporting young children in an early learning, preschool, childcare, or related educational setting
- Previous Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) experience preferred but not required. Candidates who meet or are eligible to meet current SPP qualification requirements are encouraged to apply.
- Experience supporting preschool curriculum and classroom planning
- Experience with child observation, assessment, and documentation
- Experience with Teaching Strategies GOLD and other child assessment tools
- Experience with culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices and supporting dual language learners
- Experience working with diverse children and families
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency
- Strong relationship-building skills with children, families, and colleagues
- A collaborative, team oriented mindset
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating welcoming learning environments
- Partner with the Lead Teacher to implement curriculum and daily learning activities
- Support classroom routines, transitions, small‑group activities, and individualized learning experiences
- Help create a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive classroom environment
- Participate in child observations, documentation, assessment and classroom planning
- Support Teaching Strategies GOLD and other required SPP assessment and documentation processes
- Maintain licensing, SPP/DEEL, health and safety, and classroom requirements
- Build positive and responsive relationships with children and families
- Support a classroom environment that values children’s languages, cultures, identities, and strengths
