Metallurgical Engineer; Ph.D

Overview

Metallurgical Engineer (Ph.D.) – Seattle, WA. In this role you will work as part of the Metallurgical and Corrosion Engineering Practice to conduct materials, metallurgical, and mechanical failure investigations; perform materials characterization and specialized testing; and participate in field inspections.

• Conduct hands-on failure analyses
• Perform materials characterization and metallurgical analysis
• Plan, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing
• Conduct field inspections
• Communicate results effectively to technical and non-technical clients and staff
• Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, managers, clients, and administrative staff

• Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, with familiarity in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong background in materials characterization techniques (e.g., metallography, SEM, EDS, FIB, X-ray radiography/diffraction, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work within project teams and contribute to the team
• Knowledge of failure analysis is desired
• Authorized to work in the US without immigration sponsorship or visa processing
