Electronic Systems Product Engineer – Seattle, WA
OverviewWe are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Product Engineer to join our engineering team at Cummins Inc. in Seattle, WA. The role focuses on bridging customer and product requirements with technical implementation in hardware and software, driving system integration, and maintaining product quality.
Responsibilities- Translate product needs into hardware and software specifications that drive product functionality.
- Configure and tune integrated systems to ensure hardware and software work seamlessly together, delivering reliable performance.
- Investigate system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Refine development processes and tools—such as simulation, calibration, and DVP&R—to enhance efficiency and product robustness.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including manufacturing, suppliers, and technical experts—to inform decisions that shape product outcomes.
- Own decisions that affect the performance and quality of specific features or components, building technical judgment and impact.
- Guide technicians or interns to align their work with project goals and timelines (no direct people management).
- Grow as a technical contributor through hands‑on experience and collaboration, becoming a valuable asset to Cummins’ innovation efforts.
- Strong technical foundation in mechatronics and controls, including hardware/software integration and closed‑loop control.
- Systems thinking: ability to define system boundaries, translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, and manage requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Analytical and simulation skills using modeling, simulation, and statistical methods to validate performance.
- Problem‑solving aptitude and failure‑mode avoidance, with structured troubleshooting and robust solution implementation.
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration and communication for integrating designs and driving product development.
- Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to grow in a dynamic early‑career role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field (Master’s preferred for some roles).
- Entry‑level or early‑career professional experience; internship or co‑op experience acceptable.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools.
- Pay range: $74,800 – $112,200 (US$).
- Hybrid role: opportunity to work on‑site 60% of the time.
- Utilize ECAD tools (Zuken, Altium) for schematics, harness drawings, and PCB design.
- Experience with SPICE, MATLAB, and electrical simulation tools is advantageous.
- Experience with high‑voltage systems (up to 2 kV) and electrification technologies is a plus.
