As part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, this Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing and supply chain activities across all Blue Origin facilities.
You will have the opportunity to work with components on the New Glenn orbital rocket and will contribute to lowering the cost of access to space.
- Develop manufacturing work instructions that define the entire manufacturing process: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
- Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
- Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing tooling and equipment.
- Develop process control measures and evaluate them through statistical analysis.
- Define and support repair and rework activities.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure hardware and equipment are manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
- Perform root‑cause analyses when non‑conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
- Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and test process.
- Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or a related accredited field).
- Minimum 3+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
- Hands‑on experience in hardware manufacturing (castings, forgings, additive manufacturing, welding, machining, cleaning, NDT, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and MES/Software).
- Proven experience and a successful track record of completing manufacturing projects.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, scheduling, issue tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
- MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or a related accredited field).
- Experience with the design and manufacturing of fluid systems and/or valve mechanisms.
- Experience with the design and manufacturing of tooling and GSE.
WA applicants: $73,095.00 – $. Other site ranges may differ.
