Design Engineering Manager
TLG Aerospace is currently seeking an additional Design Engineering Manager to support a variety of aerospace development programs. You will work with customers and internal project teams (Aerodynamics, Loads, Flutter, Performance & Handling Qualities, CFD and Stress Engineers) to lead the Design Engineering efforts will manage and direct structural design and support development of conceptual design phases from initial concept through to released engineering drawings.
Responsibilities- Work closely with customers to develop and define statements of work that utilize TLG’s experience and capabilities.
- Identify and develop business opportunities with new and existing customers.
- Lead a staff of highly qualified Design Engineers in the following tasks:
- Manage layout phase of initial concepts for new or modified aerospace structures.
- Generate initial and mature design concepts to the customer’s specified level of definition, ranging from lofted surface definition and Interface Control Models (ICM) to complete component, assembly, and installation models, ultimately releasing production drawings or MBDs.
- Manage product definition within a PDM environment; support the generation and review of reports and presentation materials for internal and customer Preliminary and Critical Design Review (PDR & CDR) meetings.
- Manage an internal design team on new product development of innovative aircraft and space structures, including assignments, scheduling, program reporting, and team member reviews.
- 10 years of applied experience in aerospace structural design and analysis.
- Proficiency with design standards and techniques appropriate to the complexity and program maturity of the structure.
- Experience interrogating CAD models and using a PDM system.
- Work experience using CATIA; exposure and knowledge of FEMAP, Patran/Nastran are strong benefits.
- Familiarity with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements and processes.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary team.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident (Green Card) required.
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent.

SalaryThe base pay for this position ranges from $150,000 to $250,000 per year. Salaries are based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
