Senior Electrical Engineer (High Power Pulsed Systems, RF Layout Expertise)
Sigma Genetics is pioneering the next era of intracellular delivery with its Magnetoporator™ technology. This breakthrough platform uses magnetic fields and precision pulsed power to enable nonviral genetic and molecular delivery into human cells. Our work sits at the intersection of electrical engineering, biophysics, and genetic medicine, with transformative applications in cell & gene therapy, drug discovery, and biomanufacturing. We are seeking an electrical engineer to join our team to help build compact, high‑voltage, high‑frequency pulse generators and delivery systems.
WhatYou’ll Do
You’ll lead the development of custom pulsed power systems for biological research and clinical tools:
- Design and build Blumlein style pulse generators, LC boosters, or other HV topologies targeting 100–200 A, 10–100 ns pulses
- Simulate, prototype, and debug high-speed, high-voltage circuits with tight impedance control and fast switching
- Own RF class PCB layout for HV, nanosecond‑scale pulse circuits, including controlled impedance, minimized parasitics, and solid ground strategies
- Work hands‑on with power semiconductors (SiC, GaN, HV FETs), pulse‑forming networks, and custom PCBs
- Collaborate with biologists and physicists to adapt waveforms to cell type, cargo, and membrane dynamics
- Contribute to integrated systems that include magnetic field generation, coils, sensors, and control logic
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in EE, physics, or a related field
- Strong background in short pulse, high power circuits (Blumlein, Marx, LC boost, etc.)
- Proficiency in RF class PCB layout (microwave layout, return path integrity, fast edge containment, controlled impedance)
- Experience with pulse‑forming lines, transmission line theory, and high dV/dt switching
- Simulation skills using SPICE, LTSpice, or equivalent tools
- Hands‑on debugging skills using oscilloscopes, HV probes, and current monitors
- Bonus: experience with gate drivers, magnetics, electroporation, or biomedical interfaces
- Work on technology with real human impact, not just another widget
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, drug discovery investigators, inventors, and world‑class translational research partners
- Help define and build an entirely new modality of intracellular delivery
- Competitive salary, benefits, and stock options in a well‑funded early‑stage company
