Job Description & How to Apply Below
Great candidates for this position will have expertise in the areas of battery management systems, energy storage optimization, time-series forecasting, and control systems for battery dispatch. This includes owning end-to-end battery system architecture, design, and technical execution across the team's hardware launches, and experience designing ML-driven algorithms for battery management (BMS) that operate reliably under embedded/edge compute constraints, building forecasting models for energy usage and demand response, applying reinforcement learning or control theory to battery dispatch and charge/discharge optimization, and developing predictive models for battery health and degradation.
You will strive for simplicity and creativity, demonstrating high judgment backed by statistical proof.
Key job responsibilities
As a Interdisciplinary System Engineer, you'll own end-to-end battery system architecture for new-to-Amazon devices, including power electronics, BMS, wireless connectivity, and HW/FW/SW integration — driving architecture decisions from concept through mass production. You'll serve as a key technical interface with battery vendors on system-level design and component selection, and lead design reviews and validation plans to ensure product quality and safety.
You'll design and deploy ML-driven algorithms that autonomously optimize battery charge/discharge behavior, dispatch, and energy usage, and develop forecasting systems that integrate real-world usage data and grid signals to deliver context-aware, cost-saving recommendations to customers.
Beyond technical innovation, you'll drive critical technical trade-offs — BMS algorithm fidelity versus compute constraints, power electronics efficiency versus BOM cost, safety margin versus usable capacity — serving as a subject-matter expert on energy storage systems for Director and VP-level technical reviews. You'll drive end-to-end product development from research through production deployment on embedded and cloud systems, collaborating with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and software teams, and establish rigorous experimentation frameworks to validate model performance and measure business impact.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with electrical systems- 4+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Preferred qualification
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Knowledge of battery electro-chemistry and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with energy systems and energy devices beyond batteries
