Description:
St. John the Evangelist is a vibrant and welcoming parish community of more than 1,000 households, enriched by a thriving parish school that serves as a center for faith, learning, and fellowship. We are currently seeking a Choir Director who is an experienced, energetic individual capable of bringing the liturgy to life through music.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure music is provided for parish liturgies by selecting appropriate music and recruiting and scheduling musicians for the Saturday 5pm and Sunday 8:30 am masses, as well as some Holy Days.Serve as a consultant to the pastoral staff and families for appropriate music during marriage and funeral liturgies.Coordinate Cantors and Accompanists for Masses, Funerals, and Weddings when needed.Direct the choir and conduct regular rehearsals according to the liturgical calendar.Review and select music repertoire and arrangements.Provide music skill assessments for all volunteers.Perform other duties in the music field, as determined in consultation with the Pastor.Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in MusicExperience leading music programs at Catholic ParishesCompetence in choral directing and keyboard performanceAbility to work effectively with diverse groups of peopleAbility to offer vocal training for choir membersSalary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, as well as certain degrees and certifications.
