Provide assistance and/or intervention to persons who are or appear to be incapacitated and/or intoxicated in the street or other public areas. Interventions include screening by visual inspection and brief conversation to determine the need for detox or other medical services. Incumbent picks up and transports clients to and from designated facilities and to areas of choice for the person being assisted.
Provide assistance to homeless/low-income persons in need of transportation or resources. This recruitment may be used to fill up to 2 positions.
This position is open to all qualified current career service and TLT King County employees who meet the minimum qualifications. Interviews for this selection process will take place on or around 1/27/2026.

Work Schedule / ConditionsWe currently have two 0.8 FTE positions. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are typically 8 hours/day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with prior supervisory pre-approval.
Mission Critical Position StatusThis position has been designated Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas in a 15-passenger van, and respond to calls from 911 and others to pick up incapacitated/intoxicated persons in public places.
