    Req#: 4077439 The Food and Facilities Section, Environmental Health Services Division, is currently seeking to fill multiple Short Term Temporary positions for Health & Environmental Investigator (HEI) Level I/II. Placement into Level II depends upon the qualifications of successful candidates prior to the hire date (described further in the Qualifications section below). The HEI I/II STT positions are expected to be filled for duration of up to 910 hrs over a period of 12 months.

    Ideal candidates will have current or recent experience inspecting food establishments in Washington state and be able to work 1-3 days per week conducting inspections food establishments in King County.

    The HEI I/II will help with a Risk Factor Study by conducting unscored inspections of food establishments and documenting field observations of food handling practices, facility and equipment conditions. Although expectations are for unscored inspections we are seeking ‘standardized’ inspections from multiple STT positions who will follow the noted marking instructions. Knowledge of FDA Model Food Code and FDA Standards and Risk Factor Study are preferred to performing the duties of HEI I/II.

    • Conduct unscored inspections of food establishments (permanent), with current public health and environmental codes, regulations, and policies.
    • Be able to be ‘standardized’ to other STT positions when making observations and following noted marking instructions for Risk Factor Study
    • Conduct professional observational oversight and representation of public health agency
    • Convey, interpret and document observations in ‘standardized’ methods with knowledge of public health and environmental codes, regulations, policies, and technical regulatory information to a variety of diverse audiences
    • Maintain and use program based computerized systems, write reports, and maintain accurate field records for standardized data collection
