The Hockenbery Lab is hiring a Research Technician II who will be responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research on genetic mechanisms of spontaneous regression of a transmissible cancer in Tasmanian Devils by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling, and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs, and summaries.
Responsibilities- Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
- Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
- Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
- Interpret and report on experimental results.
- Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
- Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
- May supervise work-study students.
- Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework
- Independent research experience separate from school lab experience
- Experience with mammalian cell culturing.
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study
- Demonstrated basic laboratory skills
The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
