We are seeking a highly adaptable and self‑motivated professional to join our team at the King County Secure Community Transition Facility located in Seattle’s SODO business district. The Secure Community Transition Facility is a structured and closely supervised community residential program where residents continue treatment in a community setting. Our program provides treatment to individuals who are civilly committed, helping them address their history of sexual offenses and prepare for a safe and successful transition back into the community.

As a Residential Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work collaboratively with a team of professionals to implement strategies and interventions that support the needs of our residents. Residential Rehabilitation Counselors are responsible for the daily support and monitoring of residents, escorting/chaperoning services in the community, health engagement opportunities, and fostering a safe and secure environment.
Opportunities performed on‑site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Additionally, King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
Some of what you'll do:- Provide day‑to‑day supervision and monitoring of residents.
- Create opportunities for social and therapeutic engagement in individual and group settings.
- Assist and encourage residents in completing essential life skills.
- Escort residents to and from community outings/appointments.
- Maintain a safe and secure living environment.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop accurate and detailed written documentation and reports.
Professionals with one of the following:
- High school graduation or GED, and one year of experience providing direct care in a residential or in‑patient behavioral health setting.
- Or college‑level coursework will substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Equivalent education/experience will also be considered.
- Those who lead by example.
- Knowledge of CPR and first responder level first aid.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with staff and residents from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to demonstrate an acute awareness of safety protocols and utilize strong judgment skills to assess environments and situations, making sound decisions within the scope of the job.
- Demonstrates strong critical thinking and effective communication skills, with the ability to observe and articulate behavioral insights both verbally and in writing, while producing comprehensive, concise, and detail‑oriented documentation.
