Performs variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties to assist practitioners and other members of health care team in providing high quality patient care through health care system. The Medical Assistant participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the clinic. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the flow of the patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day.

About the Transplant Clinic
Our transplant clinic nursing and medical assistant teams provide specialized care for patients receiving assessment and treatment for blood and marrow transplant patients in three specialized areas: allogeneic, autologous and pediatric. Patients receiving care in the Transplant Clinic receive ongoing care over multiple months from a dedicated, multidisciplinary care team.
Please note that this is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position, working Monday-Friday starting as early as 7:30am at the South Lake Union location in the Transplant Department.
Responsibilities
* All Essential Functions of the MA I position
* Leave paperwork / Prior Authorizations /Prescriptions refills
* Answering / screening incoming phone calls
* Coordinating outside labs results and notify pt. of norm labs results
* Acts as preceptor / trainer
* Assist with Nurse Triage
* Preforms blood draws as directed
* Reinforce compliance in billing / coding
* Facilitates distribution of clinical contacts, schedules and care management tools
* Monitor and assist with clinic flow, adjusting as needed to ensure efficient patient flow
* Request medical record from external/internal facilitates and prepare for provider review
* Collaborates with clinic nursing supervisor to develop operational strategies and process improvements for department / unit
* Acts as a liaison between patients/families and health care providers.
* Assist in resolving and/or responding to non-clinical related patient complaints and inquiries
Qualifications
Required:
* Completion of a medical assistant program offered by a school accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); or
* Military training or experience may also satisfy the training and experience requirements
* Certified Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice.
