The Seattle Children’s Community Health team partners with communities to promote wellbeing, prevent injury and address social drivers of health. We serve children and families living in the Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho (WAMI) region through equitable and community-responsive programming, education and advocacy.

We are seeking a Community Health Educator to co‑lead injury prevention education activities across Washington state. In partnership with the Program Manager, you will deliver clear, trauma‑informed and culturally responsive education on complex topics, such as firearm injury and suicide prevention, to a wide range of audiences. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative communicator who can bridge diverse perspectives, reduce stigma, and champion evidence‑based prevention efforts.

This is a limited term position active through June 30, 2027. Flexibility needed for evening and weekend event work.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with community organizations, healthcare systems, academic institutions, volunteers, and public health partners to co‑create and deliver equitable, culturally responsive programming. This includes coordinating and leading safe and secure firearm storage education and training events for different audiences across Washington state.
  • Translate public health frameworks, research and data into accessible, plain‑language education materials for community health partners, community members, and clinicians. You will review, develop, and distribute community education materials and quarterly program reports.
  • Expand knowledge of and access to secure firearm storage resources and promote evidence‑based practices to support the safety of children, teens, and young adults.
  • Co‑lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of injury prevention initiatives, with an emphasis on firearm safety. This includes conducting literature reviews and applying and implementing emerging research into actionable, evidence‑based designs and interventions.
Required

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or related field.

3 years healthcare experience or 1 year healthcare experience with a master’s degree.

Washington Driver’s License.

Preferred

Bilingual, Spanish preferred.

Master’s degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or related field.

Certified Health Education Specialist or equivalent.

Experience crafting communications and resource materials for multiple audiences and modalities.

Experience adhering to editorial, graphic and health literacy standards.

Experience managing multi‑faceted projects with complex timelines.

Experience practicing and demonstrating cultural humility and health equity with diverse populations.

Compensation Range

$35.28 - $52.92 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full‑time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
