Cardiac Device RN – Clinic/Outpatient (Post-Acute Setting)
Shift: 5x8s (Mon–Fri, staggered start times)
Location: Downtown campus
Orientation: 12 hours + precepted device orientation (1–5 days)
- Unit: Cardiac Device Clinic – Outpatient + Peri-operative management for inpatients
- Division: Nursing
- Care Setting: Post-Acute
- Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
- Shift Length: 8 hours
- Start Times:
- 6:30–3:00
- 7:00–3:30
- 8:30–5:00
- No weekends or holidays
- No call or standby
- License: Active RN (willing to wait for state license)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) (required)
- Preferred:
- Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS)
- BSN: Not required
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
Must have CCDS OR very similar device experience.
DO NOT submit candidates without device interrogation experience.
- Cardiac device interrogation & programming experience
- Post-implant wound management
- Experience with:
Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Abbott, and Biotronik devices - Ability to interpret device data and manage remote monitoring
- Comfort communicating with EP physicians, APPs, and device reps
- Type of Clinic: Cardiac Device RN – Device management & monitoring
- Providers: 2 EP Physicians + 3 EP APPs daily
- Patients per day: Varies; includes clinic visits, peri-operative checks, remote monitoring, device consults
- Support Staff:
- 1 Device RN
- 1 Device Tech
- Device reps frequently on-site
- Floating:
- Expected within inpatient & outpatient device services only
- No travel to satellite locations for travelers
- Charting Systems:
- Cerner
- Contado (Device Management System) – training provided
- Interrogation, programming, and follow-up for cardiac devices
- Post-operative wound checks
- Remote monitoring review (alerts, assessments, escalation as needed)
- Collaborative device management with EP team, device reps, physicians, and APPs
- Patient education regarding device care and follow-up
- Support both outpatient clinic and peri-operative inpatient device needs
- General Orientation: 1–2 days (includes Cerner)
- Precepted Training: 1–5 days depending on skill verification
- Downtown location with frequent device rep presence
