Job Description Harborview Medical Center’s Interpreter Services Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Interpreter 1, Spanish.

WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week

Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTSEnable patient(s) to access medical care

Be a part of a team dedicated to improving language accessPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provide oral, sight and written interpretation for target language(s)
Transmit information accurately between patient and provider or staff

Encourage direct communication between patient and provider or staff

Manage complexity of cross-cultural encounter

Provide sight translation in the presence of a provider and/or other medical staff

Assist patients to complete medical, financial, or other formsREQUIREMENTSHigh school graduation or equivalent AND two years interpretation experience in a clinic or hospital setting AND medical interpreter certification or qualification either from Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details Pay Range Minimum:$28.54 hourly
