Overview
Director of People Operations at Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington. Hybrid work arrangement with in-office days as needed.
PositionReporting directly to the SVP, People & Culture, the Director of People Operations will be responsible for the overall strategy, design, and execution of the organization’s HR operational functions. This includes overseeing HR information systems (including Dayforce, Navex, etc.), payroll, and employee data management to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The role will leverage technology and data to streamline processes, enhance the employee experience, and support the organization's mission and growth.
Key Responsibilities- HRIS Management and Strategy
- Create and implement a world-class vision for Evergreen Goodwill’s HRIS tools that supports business outcomes, productivity, and innovation.
- Lead ongoing optimization and evolution of HRIS tools to meet organization needs.
- Serve as primary liaison with external vendors and internal IT for system upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain HR system training materials and conduct training for HR staff and employees.
- Payroll Administration
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
- Lead year-end payroll processing and reporting (W-2s and related filings).
- Address complex payroll inquiries and resolve issues with a focus on employee satisfaction and compliance.
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting and planning.
- Employee Data Management and Compliance
- Develop and enforce policies for security and confidentiality of employee data in line with data privacy laws.
- Manage full employee lifecycle in the HRIS from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring data accuracy.
- Conduct regular data audits to maintain data quality and compliance.
- Align HR practices and data management with diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments.
- Reporting and Analytics
- Provide data-driven insights by analyzing workforce trends, turnover, compensation, and other HR metrics.
- Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of HRIS and Payroll professionals, fostering high performance and development.
- Serve as trusted advisor to senior leadership on HR operations, technology, and data.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3-5 years in a leadership role focused on HR operations.
- Proven experience creating a vision for people operations and managing HRIS platforms;
Dayforce experience is highly preferred. - Demonstrated leadership and development of a high-functioning team with cross-organizational collaboration.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll administration and compliance.
- Expertise in federal, Washington state, and local employment laws related to HR data and compliance.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences.
Preferred
- MBA or Master’s in HR or related field.
- Prior nonprofit, high-growth, or mission-driven experience.
- Payroll Certification (CPP or equivalent) and HR Certification (SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or equivalent).
Salary Range
: $125,000–$145,000
