Position: WORKSOURCE SPECIALIST 4-JBLM-Full-Time-Permanent

As a Work Source Specialist, you will be helping customers in the Resource Room facilitate orientations and career services workshops, or meeting one on one with a job seeker to assess customers’ work readiness and employability. Our Work Source Specialists’ goal is to engage our job seekers by offering access to the full array of services available through the Work Source system.

These services increase job seekers’ skills and ability to find gainful employment in high‑quality jobs and careers.
The home location for this role is Work Source Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) located at 11577 41st Division Drive, Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA 98438.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual appointments to articulate program services, requirements, and activities and identify components applicable to the customer’s need.
  • Review skills and abilities through a variety of assessment, determining training needs and engaging the customer to enroll in training.
  • Manage caseload, provide case management, facilitate appropriate support services and/or make referrals.
  • Identify and evaluate barriers and explore solutions to assist in removing barriers, assist in obtaining needed documentation.
  • Conduct outreach activities to recruit customers into services.
  • Determine eligibility and/or appropriateness for program, enroll and explain program participation requirements.
  • Develop individual employment service plans, guide customers to effectively use employment and training programs and services.
  • Support the customer to find and keep employment through an extended period of follow‑up services.
  • Participate in a performance‑based program, achieving goals to motivate customers to complete training through educational and vocational achievements.

Required Qualifications

Option 1

One (1) year as a Work Source Specialist 3 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or another state’s Employment Security agency.

Option 2

A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement and banking.

Option 3

A combination of education and/or relevant experience totaling at least seven (7) years.

A Master’s degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Additional Requirements of Employment
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) base access card.
  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) claim benefit and Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) claim and fraud check review.
