The Role
As a Staff SRE/Dev Ops Engineer, you will spearhead our strategic cloud re-architecture initiative, driving a comprehensive modernization effort with a focus on unwavering availability and peak performance. You will be instrumental in transforming our architecture by championing microservices, driving automation, and architecting resilient multi‑region solutions capable of handling massive scale. Beyond the technical execution, you will bridge knowledge gaps across teams through coaching on Dev Ops best practices and enforce operational excellence by defining standards for CI/CD.
As a key influencer, you will shape our Dev Ops roadmap, driving innovation with cutting‑edge cloud services and advanced strategies to ensure a secure, compliant, and future‑proof platform.
- Bridge Knowledge Gaps: Assess current Dev Ops and infrastructure, identify improvement areas, and coach teams on best practices.
- Engineer Multi‑Region Solutions: Design and implement multi‑region traffic management (traffic shadowing/shifting), robust disaster recovery, and scalable databases.
- Modernize Architecture: Support the transition to microservices, drive automation, and ensure systems can handle peak events (e.g., Super Bow) without major rework.
- Enforce Operational Excellence: Define best practices for CI/CD, observability, and incident response to improve engineering velocity.
- Mentor & Influence: Provide guidance to engineers and development teams on cloud‑native development, GCP services, and multi‑cloud operations.
- Drive Strategy & Innovation: Shape the Dev Ops roadmap, proposing and implementing advanced solutions (serverless, hybrid data models, advanced traffic management) to future‑prove our platform.
- Ensure Security & Compliance: Embed security best practices (IAM, network policies, data protection) and align with industry standards.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 8+ years in Dev Ops/cloud infrastructure/platform engineering, including 3+ in a senior or staff‑level role leading large‑scale initiatives.
- Technical Expertise:
- Cloud Platforms: Proven hands‑on experience with AWS and GCP (including multi‑region architectures and GCP‑managed services like GKE, Spanner, Pub/Sub).
- Containers & Orchestration: Deep expertise with Docker and Kubernetes, including cluster management and scalability.
- Automation & IaC: Skilled in Terraform, Cloud Formation, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git Hub Actions, ArgoCD).
- Networking & Security: Strong TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and TLS knowledge; experience with IAM, network security groups, and secret management.
- System Design: Ability to architect and scale distributed systems (caching, database scaling, high availability).
- Coding & Scripting: Advanced Python, Bash, and Go for automation; comfortable solving medium‑level data structure/algorithm challenges.
- Monitoring & Logging: Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and distributed tracing.
- Soft Skills:
- Leadership & Mentorship: Adept at guiding cross‑functional teams, sharing knowledge, and promoting best practices.
- Problem‑Solving: Track record of solving complex, ambiguous problems with innovative, scalable solutions.
- Communication: Excellent…
